Selma Lagerlöf

Selma Lagerlöf (1858–1940) was a Swedish author and the first female writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature (1909). 
She is best known for her novel "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" ("Nils Holgerssons underbara resa genom Sverige"), 
a children's book that combines fantasy with a depiction of Swedish geography and folklore. 
Lagerlöf's works often incorporated elements of folklore and had a strong moral and social dimension. 
Her writing contributed significantly to Swedish literature and gained international recognition.
