Vintage Reuge Swiss, 50 note movement, plays "The Blue Danube"

or "An der schönen blauen Donau" German for "By the Beautiful Blue Danube."

A famous Viennese Waltz composed by Johann Strauss II in 1866.

I recognized the tune when I manually turned the wheel at the end of the cylinder with my thumb. It was not easy to do, turning it manually. Yet turning it slowly, it sounds beautiful! The Blue Danube sounds detailed and clear.

This movement needs repair in order for it to work by itself, rather than manually turning the cylinder. I don't know if it can be repaired to work by itself.

Movement has been sitting in a box in a drawer for decades. I don't know the age.

The base is approximately 4 inches by 2 1/4 inches. Or 10.16 cm by 5.9 cm.

On the bottom of the base, looks like "975AB"

Looks like 4 teeth are missing.

Two of the brass pieces that are attached with screws appear to be bent.

I don't know if pieces are missing.

I just dusted off the movement with a brush, and left it as is. Some patina, scratches & scuffs.

Weighs approximately 11.1 ounces.
