This is one of those items you almost have to see to believe. This was a very over the top unit in 1982. Please read to the end.
It is a portable boombox AM-FM Stereo with a 5” color television that incorporates digital electronic tuning. That would have been impressive for the day, but it then adds a removable stereo Micro Cassette with METAL tape capability. Yup I said that right. The portable has stereo mics and no internal speaker so it is completely dedicated to the unit with a row of mating contacts to power it and connect the signal path. Its also all aluminum.
This comes with the original instructions, the accessory order form, the giant power supply and the main unit with the removable tape player. Also has the original GE demo tape that is super flat. I tested with a better micro tape and the player sounded good.
All functions appear to operate correctly. Sound is overall very good. Television is bright and razor sharp with my Atari 2600. Please see a working demo here….you’ll have to paste it to your browser.

Condition and flaws. Used. It has numerous small scratches but looks like the photos. Runs properly on 12 D batteries. The power supply is supposed to plug into a jack in the rear of the unit. There is a second power supply jack under the battery door for an accessory power supply. The normal jack on the back is non functional. To power the unit on AC you must use the secondary jack in the battery compartment. The only other issue is that a single battery is stuck in the compartment of the hand held tape unit. I could not remove it. The top battery came out fine and even though it leaked didn’t hurt the contact as they are gold plated to protect them and it did just that. You’ll need to JB weld a dowel to the stuck battery let dry and pull out if you want it removed.
Super rare unit complete with paper work that shows well and has all playing features working properly. Good luck I hope I have answered all questions. Its quite the collector piece.
