We are offering a photograph of a sailor in uniform whom we believe was in the navy during the Spanish American War.  Written on his cap is something we can only partially make out, as his head is slightly turned away from the camera.  We can see the letters "ASSM".  We assume there was more than that, but that's all we can see.  Again, we believe this to be a photo of a Spanish American War sailor, as we had acquired it with a large collection of original Spanish American War items.  But not being experts on militaria, if anyone knows differently, please let us know.
