Hull's Family Liniment Quack Patent Medicine Unused Label for bottle. Read Label

Vintage label for a bottle of quack, or patent, medicine. What makes this label special is the first ingredient!
The label is 5 1/2 inches high and 2 1/2 inches wide.

A bit of background: The label claims the liniment is "guaranteed under Food and Drugs Act, June 30, 1906." This act did not prohibit false therapeutic claims despite the intention of the law's sponsors. The law in part only prohibited the addition of any ingredients that would substitute for the food, conceal damage, pose a "health hazard," or constitute a filthy or decomposed substance. Medicines containing the first addictive ingredient on this label were still unregulated and could be sold without restriction. Many people became addicted to patent medicines.

Condition: Excellent condition with no tears or folds. The paper is aged tanned.

The actual colors may vary slightly from photos.

Shipping: Shipped within two business days with care from a pet-free, smoke-free home.
