Palm Springs Life Magazine Mug w/ vintage 1950s Golf Graphic Illustrations

Fun "vintage" golf-themed mug by Palm Springs Life Magazine using great 50s graphic illustrations by noted artist Earl Cordrey used for the December 1960 cover art. Thunderbird Country Club may have a new look architecturally, but, as artist Earl Cordrey indicates, there is still the same mélange of people, the same congenial confusion around the first tee. In recent years, Palm Springs Life launched a line of products using graphics from their vintage magazines - this is an example.

Earl Cordrey (1902-1977) was a founder of Palm Springs Life who designed the original logo and illustrated covers for the magazine until the mid-1960s. A Southern California native, he trained at the prestigious Chouinard School of Art (which was since absorbed by CalArts) and worked in the studio of the revered early desert landscape painter Sam Hyde Harris before marrying his wife, Catherine, moving to New York, and devoting himself to magazine illustration. The couple moved to the desert in the early 1940s, and Cordrey quickly became a fixture of the local art scene.

It's in very good vintage condition with no issues to note. Measures 4-5/8” high x 3.25” diameter and holds about 15 oz.

Will weigh 1-2 lbs packed safely. Thank you.
