Weltron 2005 / Weltron 2007 Replacment Lid And Re-engineered Hinge Set..

The OEM smoked plastic lids on the Weltron stereos are always cracked and usually broken around the hinge area. This is because of a design flaw where the tension caused by the hinge springs while the lid is in the closed position puts stress in the lid around the screws. This would cause environmental stress cracking and eventually the lid would fail.

A replacement lid was produced in Australia and became the standard, and eventually a re-engineered hinge (that eliminated the stress) was also produced. This combination was the choice of Weltron restorers all over the world! Unfortunately due to an illness, the Australian manufacturer stopped producing the lids; I am now producing a second generation lid that is very similar to the Australian lid but comes pre-drilled so the installation is easier, in this listing the re-engineered hinge is also included so you can purchase the lid/hinge solution. I routinely use the same lid and same lid in the restorations at the Chromium Space Sound Gallery! The package includes the lid pre-drilled complete with opening tab, the re-engineered hinge and the hardware for installation. The hinge will need to be drilled using a 3mm drill bit.
