Ibanez 2409B Professional Black Eagle Bass 1977

Rad 1970s bass that pulls out all the stops!

Ibanez put these cool, made in Japan, basses into production from 1976-1979 and only about 500 in total were built. The serial number places this bass as being built in May of 1977 at the FujiGen factory.

Krist Novoselic from Nirvana can be seen playing these models throughout the years.

At it's core the Black Eagle is laid out like a Fender Jazz Bass, but features scrolled cutaway horns, a scrolled or f hole style headstock, banjo inlays in a maple fingerboard, a pearloid eagle inlayed beneath the pickguard, and a mahogany body.

The pickups are the original Maxon made "JB Sound" Jazz Bass style pickups. The pickups are genuinely made in the Fender style and have magnetic pole pieces, not a bar magnet on the bottom like most low end Japanese made 1970s pickups. The electronic controls and jack have been replaced with newer pots and jack. The original electronics will be included.

All other parts are original.

The bass weighs in at 11.3 lbs.

The Ibanez comes with a new Gator Case gig bag.

The Black Eagle has been professionally set up and will be ready to play!

The bass is used and shows signs of it including wear, nicks, dings, dents, scratches, rust, grime, dirt, chips, bumps, and bruises but is in otherwise great shape. The lower part of the headstock scroll f hole has cracked off and is missing. It does not affect the playability or stability of the neck. It is very common for these basses to be missing that part.
