Hello and welcome to this sale of on The Quest For The Rings Game (1981) by Magnavox for the Phillips Videopac G7000 or Odyssey 2.


A classic and rare hybrid video / board game in *complete*, very good condition with all original items accounted for including the clear branded plastic sleeve. Please see photos for condition, there are a few, very very minor age related marks and scuffs (this item is 40 years old), some might refer to them as patina or signs of careful use over the years, but overall an excellent example of this rare and classic piece of video game history that features beautiful illustrations across the manual, box, map and items.


For any fans of Dungeons & Dragons, Elder Scrolls or fantasy, RPG, strategy games, Stranger Things, Lord of the Rings, there's plenty to enjoy here.


Reception for the game:


"Quest for the Rings was favorably reviewed by Video magazine in its "Arcade Alley" column where it was described as "an instant classic" with "'super hit' stamped all over it in gold letters". The combination of video game and board game elements was considered to be particularly well conceived, producing what the reviewers called "a vigorous new hybrid unlike anything ever seen in home arcading.


"It was awarded "Most Innovative Game" at the 3rd annual Arkie Awards where it was described as "stand[ing] out". Arkie Award judges commented that "every element of Quest is absolutely first-rate from the animation of the various creatures to the clean rules", and the game was additionally awarded an Honorable Mention in the category of "Best Audio-Visual Effects". Electronic Games reviewed Quest for the Rings as part of its 1983 Players Guide to Fantasy Games.
