PLEASE NOTE: ALWAYS PRE SOAK WOOD FOR AQUARIUMS AS MOST WILL FLOAT AND RELEASE TANNINS. TO SPEED UP THE PROCESS YOU CAN POUR PAR BOILED WATER ONTO THE WOOD (IN A SEPARATE CONTAINER), THIS WILL OPEN UP THE FIBRES AND PUSH THE AIR OUT WHICH CAUSES THE WOOD TO FLOAT. IN EXTREME CASES YOU MY HAVE TO WEIGH DOWN THE WOOD.

The wood will require a really good rinse through before it can be placed in the aquarium, preferably soaking in a separate container before it sinks. 

As the wood is completely dry, it will vary how long the wood floats for, it may need weighing down to ensure it soaks. Use par boiled water to assist in speeding up the process by expanding the wood fibres to expel the air in the wood until it becomes waterlogged, In extreme cases, you may need to weigh the wood down.  

The wood will release tannins into your aquarium water which is beneficial to many tropical freshwater species and will all soften the pH of your water. 

NOTE: If you don't want a blackwater aquarium, please soak and rinse in separate container to dilute the impact, prior to adding. 

Each rinse your water will get lighter in colour and then you can add it to your fish tank!
