Antique Victorian Cut Glass
& Silver Repousse Cherub Tobacco Jar Humidor
For consideration is this
antique Victorian clear cut glass and silver tobacco jar or humidor. The heavy clear glass jar has flat vertical
panels making it octagonal shaped. The underside of the base has a cut flower
design. Without the lid, the jar measures 5 inches tall and the mouth measures
3¾ inches in diameter. With the lid in place it measures 6 inches tall and the
lid measures 4 5/8 inches in diameter. The lid is whimsically decorated with a repoussé
cherub who is smoking, holding 3 long stemmed pipes over one shoulder and
encircled with decorated scrolls.
There is an extra
photo included of the lid prior to polishing. The
lid was clean using Simichrome Polish and could use a good polishing. There are
no maker’s marks to the lid indicating whether it is silver or silverplate and
there are no maker’s marks on the jar. There are no nicks, chips, cracks,
repairs, or discoloration to the glass. The base of the jar has some slight
surface scratches. The lid has a few dents around the edges (see photos). This
is in lovely antique condition. Buyer will receive FREE shipping on a 3 pound
box. Thank you for looking!
