This listing is for an early American wool purse recently purchased from a local historical society sale.  The  body of the bag is homespun hemp and it is covered in wool petit point in a zig-zag or flame stitch in shades of browns, tans and cream.
It is lined with soft brown silk and trimmed with brown cotton braid of cord. The strap is the same cord as the trim. It has a carved mother of pearl button with a loop closure on the top of the bag.

The body measure 10" X 8" and the strap is 21" long.

Condition: There is a fair amount of damage and deterioration on the body of the bag. See close up photos.

This is your chance to own an early and rare textile from the birth of our nation.
