Brass Embossed Priming Flask with Adjustable Spout

Few things are as handy to the flintlock shooter as a good priming flask. Here is an attractive option made of brass with an adjustable spout. This little flask has a screw off top making it easy to refill. The spring loaded safety spout dispenses a measured prime with the press of the thumb lever. The spout itself is adjustable and marked in increments of 3/16, 1/4, and 5/16 drams. What is a dram, you say. Well, in "old'n" days gunpowder was often measured in drams. There were 16 ounces in a pound and 16 drams in an ounce. Thus, each dram is equal to about 27.3 grains of blackpowder. Since this is a priming flask, the amount dispensed is as follows:

3/16 dram = 5.11 grains

1/4 dram = 6.825 grains

5/16 dram = 8.53 grains

In addition to being embossed with an attractive floral design, the flask also has a ring attached to the bottom for easy attachment of a lanyard.
