I used my 12 Ga 870 Remington Magnum WINGMASTER Shotgun with the Hastings barrel for many years deer hunting in the Minnesota woods using 2 3/4" and 3" sabot slugs and in later years I decided to go for a 20 Ga 870 Remington Express shotgun also with rifled barrel because of chronic right shoulder pain (less recoil w/20 Ga). My favorite ammo for both guns was either Hornady or Federal Barnes Expanders sabot slugs.The barrel is in very good condition and has a very nice blued finish. I always cleaned the shotguns, rifles, pistols and the barrels after hunting or shooting and stored them in the gun cabinets. I also removed and cleaned the shotgun barrels (12 GA and 20 GA) at the end of each hunting day during consecutive deer hunting days using the Outers Tico Tool with few drops of oil on mop (stored in the handle) regardless if I shot the gun or not during the day-hunt. There are few touch-up spots on the barrel where Perma Blue Liquid Gun Blue was used and some wear from using in the field or woods (please check images).
Retired from deer hunting after the 2021 hunt.The house is pet-free and smoke-free home for over 20 years.
