The Hutsuls preserved the ancient wax technique of painting eggs: "The technique of painting Easter eggs is wax. Contours of ornamental motifs are applied to the eggs with melted wax with the help of a pen. Hutsulia is located in the Ukrainian Carpathians and is known

for handicrafts, woodcarving, weaving, pottery and pysankarstvo. All eggs are blown by hand, washed and heat treated.

For longer stability of colors, Easter eggs are covered with several layers of UV protection. Hutsuls use images of plants and animals to decorate their Easter eggs

surround them in everyday life. They symbolize happiness and prosperity,

especially horses, deer, squirrels, birds and fish.
