We are offering an 8 x 10 photograph of a black Cocker Spaniel, who by its pose, appears to be a show dog.  The photo was taken on July 6, 1940, by Wm. Brown, Photographer of Dogs, Forest Hills, Long Island, New York.  (Stamped & dated on back) We believe this dog was either "My Own Brucie" or his offspring "Mandarin Traveler".  My Own Brucie was the male Cocker Spaniel who was the Best in Show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in 1940 and 1941 and claimed to be the most popular dog in America by Time Magazine.  My Own Brucie died of liver and kidney disease in 1943 at age 8.

Written in ink on the back is "Mandarin Traveler.  Dam Mandarin Melody (baby).  Sire My Own Brucie", which leads us to believe the photo is of Mandarin Traveler.  In our research, we have not been able to find that My Own Brucie sired a pup with the name of Mandarin Traveler, and we have not found any information about a show dog with that name.  In any event, this is a very nice photograph of a beautiful black Cocker Spaniel in a great pose.
