She gained significant recognition after winning Miss Puerto Rico Universe in 2005 and achieving the position of 1st Runner-Up at the Miss Universe 2005 pageant. This marked a notable achievement, as she became the first and only Puerto Rican to secure this position in Miss Universe history until 2019. Olavarría's journey into the spotlight began early; she won her first beauty pageant, "Miss Reina Infantil," at the age of 11.
