Offered is a genuine late 19th or early 20th century cast iron alligator match holder or safe. Finely detailed casting, with the same age patinated heavy nickel plating, you see on old wood stove parts. The same foundries made these. You won't find that on any of the crudely cast late 20th century copies circulating.. In great condition with dark rust, which could be polished off with some serious effort, as it has been on the back. Unfortunately the pinned hinge has been broken on this one for some time. The pin is intact, and a piece of the lid is still wedged into that recess. It could be easily welded, and the pin reset. Measures 8" long X 4" wide, and 1 3/4" high. Weighs 2#.

I've been buying & selling here for over 20 years. Most of my items have been off the market, from estates, or in collections for decades. They are guaranteed to be as described, and are often OOAK, especially as far as availability on eBay.
