Early Vietnam Private Purchase 13 Star Button Duck Hunter Frog Skin Coveralls.

After finding a 51 field jacket, M1 helmet, some SKS slings, and other early Vietnam period pouches and stuff at an estate sale, I came across this set of Frog Skin coveralls with 13 star buttons. In the heat of the moment I assumed they were WWII US Army. After getting back to the car, I realized they are one sided (not reversible) and not HBT. I was very confused.

However, after doing a little research, I found a slew of this duck hunter pattern stuff, with the green 13-star buttons that had sold on eBay over the years. It was apparently a private purchase item that was popular among the early US Army Personnel to get sent to Vietnam, advisors and such.

Based on the other stuff from the estate sale, this guy was definitely an officer in the 1958-68 period. I believe with the 114th signal battalion at some point. His name was Joseph Meador. (This is all written inside the M1 helmet I got).

The coveralls are in great shape with no major damage. A few small (1cm) holes here and there, but no rips, stains, missing buttons, etc. I’d say they are roughly a size medium-regular. There appears to have been a tag in the collar, but it was removed. At least, there are four pieces of stitching in a rectangle in that location. I’m 6’ tall, 190 lbs, so they’re a little snug on me, but would look great on a mannequin or skinnier guy.

THE ADVISOR HAT IS NOT INCLUDED, and did not come from the same place. I just had it, and wanted to put it on in the pictures. You are buying the coveralls only.

I don’t know what the retail price on these should be, but I saw some tops and pants in the exact same style of material and buttons that sold for $3-600.

*** SERIOUSLY, MAKE ME AN OFFER. I’m happy to negotiate something that’s fair for both of us.
