Screen printing, or silkscreen printing, is a printing technique that involves creating a stencil (screen) to apply layers of ink onto a surface.
A mesh screen is stretched over a frame, and a stencil is created on the screen. The stencil defines the image or design that will be printed.
The screen is coated with a light-sensitive emulsion. When the stencil is exposed to light, the emulsion hardens, creating the stencil on the screen.
The screen is placed on the material (such as paper or fabric), and ink is applied to the top of the screen. A squeegee is then used to spread the ink over the stencil, forcing it through the open areas of the screen and onto the material beneath.
Multiple layers of ink can be applied by using different stencils or by allowing each layer to dry before applying the next one.
After the printing is done, the material is typically heated or allowed to air-dry to cure and set the ink.
