We’ve been selling karaoke since 1988. That’s a long time! When I wanted to put my business phone number in the Yellow Pages the “karaoke” category did not even exist. I had to list the business under “Musical Accompaniment”. I’ve seen a lot of changes in these three decades. The formats that we have used to listen to our music has gone from cassette tapes and Laser Discs to Compact Discs w/Graphics, MP3+G and digital downloads. The good news for those that still have a karaoke cd+g player is that we still have thousands of discs still available, many of them are rare and hard-to-find, such as this one.

This is a unique disc with a unique collection of songs. In the 70's there were some artists that were thought of as a "one hit wonder" although they may have had other hits chart after their more famous hit. This is a collection of the great songs of that long forgotten decade, the 1970's.
This disc may take you back to a time when you bought 45's to listen to your music. This disc contains two songs from each artist, the twenty listed below.
About The songs:
Billy Don't Be A Hero charted across the pond in England for Paper Lace. The band Bo Donaldson & The Heywoods had been together for nearly a decade when they were signed to ABC/Dunhill Records and their version of 'Billy...' went to number one. Their follow-up hit 'Who Do You Think You Are' also charted but was overshadowed by the enormous success of 'Billy Don't Be A Hero'
Hot Chocolate is a British soul group. Both songs featured here made the top ten in the seventies - 'You Sexy Thing' (I Believe in miracles!) and Every 1's A Winner.
Karla Bonoff should have been so much more successful than she was. Her songs were so unique and had a great hook line. Included here are 'Personally' and 'The Water Is Wide'
Orleans is a band formed by John Hall, who later became a politician representing New York State. Both songs here made the top ten - 'Dance With Me' and 'Still The One'
Some people have accused the group 'Player' as imitating the sound of 'Hall & Oates' and the song 'Baby Come Back' does have that vibe. Included is their follow-up 'This Time I'm In It For Love'
Nicolette Larson only charted on the pop charts once with 'Lotta Love' but would later venture into country music. She passed away in 1997.
Mary MacGregor had a monster of a hit with 'Torn Between Two Lovers'. She personally did not like the message that the song gave of a woman who has cheated on her husband and would like him to accept that she now has two lovers. Her follow-up hit was from the movie 'Meatballs' called 'Good Friend' that also highlights her angelic voice.
Main Ingredient was a R&B group that featured Cuba Gooding, Sr. as lead vocalist. The song 'Everybody Plays The Fool' made it to number one on the R&B charts and number three on the Pop Charts.
GQ was a disco inspired band. Their biggest hit was 'Disco Nights (Rock Freak)' followed by a remake of a Billy Stewart Classic 'I Do Love You'.
Phil Seymour had put out a couple of albums after leaving the Dwight Twilley Band and starting a solo career. The songs on these albums are actually quite catchy. His only charting single is 'Precious To Me' but 'I Really Love You' is a great ballad. Phil Seymour passed in 1993.
