African mahogany is listed in CITES Appendix II under the genus-wide restriction of all Khaya species from Africa. Additionally, all the primary Khaya species of African mahogany are on the IUCN Red List. They are each listed as vulnerable due to a population reduction of over 20% in the past three generations, caused by a decline in its natural range, and exploitation.

As a world-renowned artisan, I was able to form this fine writing instrument through a painstaking process that involved several hours and stages in order to present a finely polished work of art. The blank was measured and drilled before inserting a brass tube. It was then trued on each end before being placed on my Rikon midi-lathe for the shaping using various chisels. When the desired shape was achieved, I then took it through a multi-stage sanding process finishing with nine steps of micro-mesh, followed by a three-step polishing with Aussie Oil resulting in a glass like finish.
