Description: Original regimental (Reservisten) stein c.1913. Belonged to Reservist Josef Grundner of 9.Company of the 1st Bavarian Infantry Regiment stationed in Munich in 1898 - 1900. 

Made of hard porcelain with lithophane in the bottom showing a Portrait of King Ludwig II of Bavaria. The front scene shows the regalia of the regiment with a crown and the Coat-of-Arms of Bavaria. The side pictures show scenes of everyday military life.

Magnificent figural lid with a soldier standing by the Bavarian Lion, with Heraldic Lion representing the Kingdom of Bavaria for the thumblift.

The bottom of the stein is damaged - there is a glued hole in it. It was a custom in some German families to make a hole in the bottom of someone's very special stein when the owner dies, so nobody could drink from it again. There are many Regimental and also occupational stein with this kind of pierces holes.

It is 11" tall, 0.5L capacity.
