ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE - RCAF - First Day Cover celebrating its 100. Anniversary in 2024. ( Cover  # 1 of 3  = #A 019a). 

The Austrian Post Office using their Picture Postage program printed a stamp commemorating the 100. anniversary of the RCAF.  Canada Post cancelled its Picture Postage stamp program on Sept. 1. 2022. Despite petitions from collectors and members of the RCAF it decided not to print a commemorative stamp for the 100. anniversary in 2024. Instead it reprinted a stamp issued in 2019 (Wm. Baerker ) and used it on a commemorative cover. It missed the anniversary date of April 1 and created a "Day of Issue" cover on April 2nd. See newspaper scan. In 1999 Canada Post issued a souvenir sheet with 16 stamps for the 75th anniversary! 

We created three commemorative covers. Each cover has, beside the Austrian Stamp, a Canadian Picture Postage stamp. The two FDCs display our Snowbirds. THIS cover  (# A 019a) commemorates the Snowbirds visiting the Okanagan Valley. The OTHER cover (A 019b)  commemorates the Snowbirds doing a fly by for the Kelowna Airport  75. anniversary.  The third cover has a Maple Leaf stamp and is cancelled on April 1, the date of the anniversary.
