Stunning design, a romantic Silverplate Victorian Art Nouveau Vanity Hand Mirror embellished w/a profusion of high relief designed repousse florals, leaves, cascading vines, surrounding a lovely young woman w/ long flowing hair, outstretched long arms & detailed fingertips .. a very special piece, a romantic gift that would have likely been presented to a sweetheart, fiancé or wife, as an expression of love. Quality crafted, original heavy beveled glass mirror remains in flawless mint cond. as well & remains securely within frame. Handle is also secure & straight. Features:
▪ Rare monogrammed large single script "E" inside such an equally large & center design medallion .. surounded w/the most gorgeous profusion of expertly detailed craftsmanship & beauty.
▪ A wonderful heirloom to pass on to future generations to treasure, as this has been.
▪ Artistically a higher end designed piece from other silver hand mirrors, rivaling actual sterling manufacturers. Pls also note the quality original heavy beveled glass mirror which remains in pristine cond. Not a sign of loss nor typical silvering anywhere .. just a temporary thumbprint smudge; oops.
▪ Measures: 10" long x 6” wide at" widest point x 3/4" deep. Mirror is also heavier than most; total weight is approx. 1 lb.
CONDITION: preowned estate antique. Some surface tarnish, wear, a few areas where silver plating has worn away to darker base metal, i.e., chiefly within the medallion area .. however the darkened silver color seems to only enhance the centered "E" monogram.
Overall, in great antique condition, the silver shines beautifully against the darker repousse valleys w/a mirror quality finish. The usual age related wear one would find on an antique silver plated hand mirror dated from early 1900s may be found here/there, however inconsequential .. no dings or dents.
