Only a handful of artisans in the world were plying their trade of fine luggage making, an art that combined the crafts of leatherworking and styling. Ghurka Leather 38 was cleated and stitched onto the more rigid frame by Italian leather masters from the Lombardy region in such a meticulous manner that only a few sets were ever made! There, the Ghurka bag in Chestnut Vintage Leather 38, tanned in an organic "tea" of mimosa and Quebracho tree barks, was a fantastic choice for making any long-lasting luxury bag! The Leather 38 was the best leather Ghurka had made; the tanning was a secret. 
This case features a strong yet lightweight hard side/bottom frame, fully lined in Ghurka's signature strong check canvas and leather trim. It features full-length zippered pockets on each side, a zipper pocket inside, and a telescoping handle. Smooth and in-line solid skate wheels assure quality rolling action. 
This elegant luggage case has served the owner well, and it is not shy to show it off! It has signs of wear, excellent character, and charisma, as shown in pictures. We rated inside the case 9.8 and outside 7.3, and overall 8 out of a perfect 10! The case was priced at $1650 plus back in 2003 and was sold as a special order to loyal customers.

Founded in Connecticut in 1975 by luxury belt and brace designer Marley Hodgson, Ghurka has served as a symbol of superior American leather craftsmanship for over thirty years. 
The origins of the Ghurka brand can be traced back to a fortuitous discovery at a British auction house in the early 1970s. Hodgson inspired a love of history and leather craft bid on Hodgson campaign travel gear and leather boots formerly owned by a British Ghurka officer stationed in India at the turn of the 20th century. He was so impressed by the quality of the nearly century-old leather – durable yet supple despite its age – and by the intricate craftsmanship that he was compelled to launch a line of comparable leather accessories. Hodgson tracked down the lost tanning formula for these boots and other accouterments carried by the legendary Ghurka regiments and applied the manufacturing process to his new collection ".
