** Plata De Jalisco Filigree Sterling Silver & Intaglio Black Glass Mourning Set ( Circa 1950 ~ Ex ) **

For sale is a mid century Plata De Jalisco, Mexico, filigree sterling silver mourning set consisting of a bracelet and earrings with inset black glass medallions with intaglio design highlighted in silver. Bracelet measures 8-3/16 inches in length not including the clasp and 1-1/4 inches wide, the pierced earrings measuring an inch in diameter, and 2-3/16 inches in length, set being in excellent condition without any breaks or repairs, showing some minor signs of use (Note; both earrings show wear to the silver highlighting, one a lot more than the other, and one of the bracelets glass medallions has two tiny, barely visible nicks). The bracelet and the earrings have been crafted by two different silversmiths (Note; it’s fairly common for a silversmith to have another silversmith craft smaller items for them). The bracelet is marked; “eagle mark” with the makers number “50”, “Plata De Jalisco V.H.L.C.” around the perimeter of an equilateral triangle, with “925” being within, and “Guad. Mex.”, the earrings both being marked; “eagle mark” with the makers number “198”, “Sterling 925”. Set weighs 54.07 grams.
