A vintage Japanese replica of an ancient Chinese cast bronze rectangular bowl "Kiryumon-ho" (Phonetic Japanese spelling of its name, not Chinese), replicated by famed and highly regarded Japanese blacksmith artist/sculptor Shomin Kobayashi (1912-1994).

The original piece is a very rare Chinese cast bronze ware from the Spring and Autumn period (770 B.C.-481 B.C.E.), owned by the Sumitomo family in Japan, which was in copper refining business in the 17th century and also the original founder-owner of Sumitomo Bank which later merged with another traditional family-owned bank and became Mitsui Sumitomo Bank of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC) in 2001.

The replicated piece by Shomin Kobayashi is about half the size of the original one, and produced in multiple quantities for special customers of the original Sumitomo Bank.
