A phenomenal example of an antique jar, would most likely have been used to store drugs or herbs for an apothecary or general store. The lid is painted gray, though has rusted through the paint in some spots, giving extra character. The rust is only on the surface, it does not effect the integrity of the metal, and could theoretically be sanded off if you desired. This jar is completely free of cracks. There are chips in the glass around the inside lip, this is from the top of the bottle being broken off after it was blown, it was only roughly filed, so chips along the inner lip have been there since it was made. There are NO other chips on this jar, not on any surface, except around the lip. The jar was flattened on the bottom while it was still hot, resulting in a beautiful stippled texture. The bottom of the jar was then filed so that it sits flatly, leaving behind a rough texture, exactly like the texture around the mouth of the jar.

I love this jar, I will be jealous of whoever buys it. Extra care will be taken with packaging, shipping will be priority If you’re local to NW Connecticut local pickup can be arranged.
