Rare, elegant, heavy, and oh so antique chic!

Late 19th century Moser Cabochon crystal bowl with 12 emerald green rectangular panels. The substantial hand-blown glass bowl features 12 colored Cabochon panels. Each raised emerald Cabochon panel is overlaid and framed in a raised gold gilt design. Meticulously detailed, painstakingly hand-painted gold gilt filigree surrounds the Moser bowl. The bright and shiny gold gilding around the rim and base complete the look, especially the detailing on the base: the bowl stands on a stepped gold and emerald crystal foot.

We were told by the original owner and others that this piece is attributed to the famous Czech Bohemian Moser Glashutte; however, we can’t personally confirm with absolute certainty as it is unmarked. Therefore we listed it as unbranded. You are purchasing with this in mind. Very few pieces of antique Moser Cabochon glassware are marked, but based on original owner’s vast collection and knowledge of Moser, our consulting with several antiques dealers, and our in-depth (25-hour) research into Moser and the unique characteristics of Moser Cabochon glassware, we believe this piece is attributed to the famous Moser Glashutte, dating back to the late 19th century in 1893 up to 1910. HISTORY OF MOSER GLASS COMPANY:

Moser is a Czech company focused on the production of lead-free handcrafted luxury crystal that is more eco-friendly than leaded glass yet extremely hard. The company began in 1857 when Ludwig Moser (1833-1916), a talented engraver and businessman, opened an engraving workshop and store in Karlovy Vary, Czech Republic. The company began as Ludwig Moser & Sons and changed names a few times over the years (Moser Glashutte, The Moser Glassworks, Moser Glass Company, etc.) but has been simply called Moser for some time now. Moser crystal gained worldwide recognition thanks to its unique beauty, quality, and timeless design and mastery of their glassmakers. The Moser trademark became the world's concept of luxury crystal and the symbol of perfect manual processing. Since 1893, Moser has used only lead-free crystal. No material demands more from its glassmakers. Novices can take years to master the skills needed. This cabochon footed bowl is in good preowned condition overall. Given its age, some signs of wear are expected and consistent with the bowl being likely over 100 years old (we were told it's antique, likely from 1893-1910). Purchased from family of original owner. The glass is radiantly clear with no clouding. The gold filigree hand-painted design around the bowl appears in excellent condition with little to no aging. Almost no surface wear on underside of foot. There is an unnoticeable dot on edge of base at 7 o’clock position in pic 7 and a SURFACE CHIP towards bottom of foot in pic 8, which can be repaired if you chose to do so. Reflected in price. This is a gorgeous, rarely found piece! Please refer to photos as the main description. We’ve noted wear that stood out to us upon careful exam but we’re happy to send more photos upon request so you can make a judgement. Sold as is.

Though for crystal and other glassware, we typically fully clean (using a professional crystal glassware solution) then dry and buff with a lint-free microfiber cloth). We do not service or test any items for functionality unless otherwise stated. Items that are not intended for collectible use should be inspected and/or serviced by a professional prior to use. There may be imperfections or inconsistencies from age or production. We carefully examine and detail each item and try to take photos as clear as possible, pointing out any flaws we notice, showing them in our photos.

We are not appraisers or experts on anything we sell, but we do spend time researching information to identify items and provide the most honest, accurate details we can. We determine fair pricing primarily based on the amount we paid for the inventory (since we typically buy online, we pay more), packing expenses, and selling fees. We also factor brand/designer, item type, age, condition, rarity, current market supply & demand, retail prices, sold prices on multiple auction and marketplace sites, and list prices on professional auctioneer sites. In some cases, we may also get the item appraised.

We also have to factor in the seller fees on each platform. Our item prices (and shipping) VASTLY DIFFER on each platform based on their fees, which range from 5% of the total price on one social media marketplace site, up to 20% on another site (eBay charges 12.9% of the total sale price including tax/shipping, in addition to advertisement fees [2-10%] of total sale], auction fees; and, unlike other sites that include insurance, eBay sellers are responsible for purchasing insurance, which is added to the shipping costs).

This is why you may have noticed that our prices across platforms vary (e.g., an item listed in one place could be $110 + $13.50 shipping; here it could be $150 + $25 shipping; and in another place it could be $175 + $7.95 shipping).

Unlike many, we don’t pad our shipping fees. Instead, we charge you at cost for shipping (including the shipping label and fees such as insurance).

We buy an abundance of packing supplies and pack exceptionally well — on average, spending 1 to 2 HOURS packing a single fragile item! Our listing, communication, and packing time is minimally built into the item price, NOT the shipping price.

We accept payment via eBay. You may use your PayPal account, debit card, Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover Card, or any other options eBay provides during checkout. Payment is due within 48 hours of placing your order or winning an auction. If payment has not been received within 2 days, an automated late-payer report will be submitted to eBay; and we reserve the right to cancel the transaction at any point leading up to the 48 hour mark. All packages are shipped with FULL insurance via USPS (though, we may also use UPS, FedEx, or DHL on occasion). For orders with a selling price exceeding approximately $200 - $250, we may require signature upon delivery (if so, this will be stated at the top of this page). Orders are shipped within 3 business days after receiving your payment (except holidays). - Is a cord or line in crystal glassware considered a flaw?

No. This nearly invisible difference in the density of the crystal occurs during the fusing of molten crystal. It may also occur during other glass-making techniques. Although visible when it reflects light, the cord is virtually invisible when drinkware or a vase is filled with liquids. This does not affect the quality of the crystal piece, and professional glassmakers do no consider these flaws, but rather a unique characteristic of a handcrafted work of art.

- Is a seed or bubble in crystal glassware considered a flaw?

No. Tiny bubbles the size of a pin point sometimes form during the fusing, melting, or blowing process. This does not affect the quality of the crystal piece, and professional glassmakers do no consider these flaws, but rather a unique characteristic of a handcrafted work of art.

- Is every handcrafted crystal piece within the same pattern exactly the same?

No. Due to the handcrafting process of each crystal piece, no two pieces are ever exactly alike, and slight variations can naturally occur (e.g., size and thickness of the glassware, size of features, pattern design, cuts, foot). This may occur with any glassware. However, it’s typically unnoticeable. Though, for some patterns, manufacturers may also update their style while leaving the same name.

- How do you clean, prevent water spots, and store fine crystal glassware?

Always wash by hand. Never use an automatic dishwasher, abrasive detergent, or coarse sponge, as they can cause the crystal to lose its brilliance, including clouding. Use a mixture of water and ammonia or white vinegar with a mild lemon detergent, along with a wet microfiber cloth. IMMEDIATELY dry and buff using a lint-free microfiber cloth. (While it’s not necessary, we use quality microfiber cloths specifically made for crystal glassware and we love them; message us for a recommendation.) To clean residue from narrow vases and decanters, fill halfway with moderately hot water, a small drop of mild detergent, 2 tablespoons white vinegar or ammonia, and 1/2 cup uncooked rice. Swirl the solution around for a few minutes. Rinse well with warm water, hand-dry as much as you can reach, then let the rest air dry. You may also buy a bendable foam decanter brush or stainless steel decanter beads for tough residue. Store upright in your cabinet; never stack crystal glassware.
