  • The city of Seto(瀬戸市) is famous for its pottery and ceramics, so much so that the generic word for ceramics in Japanese is "setomono". It has thus been considered Japan's pottery capital for a very long time.
  • Among Setoyaki, the ware made in the Akazu area is called "Akazuyaki", and the high quality ware made using traditional techniques has been branded and certified as a national traditional craft.
  • The Rokubei kiln is one of the most representative kilns for Seto Akazuyaki, and is also known for producing the Matcha tea bowls used at the Japan Pavilion at Expo Milano, and as souvenirs for those involved in the Ise-Shima Summit.
  • Kiseto(黄瀬戸) is a glaze that develops a yellowish-brown color due to the presence of a very small amount of iron, and its bright yet slightly astringent color gives it a unique elegance. There are "Kannyu(Crackle glaze) throughout, and the more you use it, the more the taste will increase.
