Milli Vanilli was a German-French R&B duo founded by Frank Farian in '88 consisting of Fab Morvan & Rob Pilatus. Their debut album titled All or Nothing in Europe & as Girl You Know It's True in North America, achieved international success & earned them a '90 Grammy Award for Best New Artist. They became 1 of the most popular pop acts in the late ‘80s-early ‘90s. However in '92, when it was found out that Morvan & Pilatus didn’t sing any of the vocals heard on their music, they returned the Grammy Award. To restore their career, Farian decided to produce a new album with Morvan & Pilatus on lead vocals to be titled Back and In Attack. However, Pilatus encountered personal problems during production of the album. He turned to drugs & committed a series of assaults, robberies & was ultimately sentenced to 3 months in jail & 6 months in a drug rehabilitation facility. On the eve of the new album's promo tour in '98, Pilatus aged 32, was found dead of an accidental alcohol & prescription drug overdose. The Back and in Attack album release was cancelled after his death.
