Southern Cross Pottery SCP Fluoride Plus Gravity Ceramic Water Filter Candle is imported from England and is an all in one filter that removes virtually all impurities including chlorine and fluoride and last up to 12 months.
This filter removes far more impurities than standard cande filters! As this filter is only 5 inches long it will fit all purifiers manufactured by Southern Cross Pottery as well as most other brands of gravity flitration systems including Durand, Waterco, Australis, Stefani and Pozzani.
SCP Fluoride Plus Ceramic Water Filter Candle Replacement elements utilize class leading ceramic, micro-porous outer shell combined with a patented core technology – made from high quality NSF certified (ANSI 61) coconut shell based granular activated carbon and other adsorbent medias. The Ceramic media is impregnated with silver ions.
The ceramic shell and the granular carbon combines mechanical filtration and physical absorption processes to reduce a wide variety of drinking water contaminants of both aesthetic and health concerns. The pore structure of the ceramic enables sufficient contact time for the filter to be ideally suited to improving taste and odour as well as reducing chlorine, chloramine, volatile organic compounds, MTBE, lead, mercury, asbestos, arsenic and fluoride.
The cleanable ceramic shell is designed to remove suspended solids, pathogenic bacteria and cysts.

Ceramic Filtration - The ceramic membrane provides genuine sub-micron filtration of fine particle matter, bacteria, cysts and tubidity.
Silver Ions - The incorperation of silver locked within the ceramic structure gives enhanced bacteriostatic and self sterilising properties, inhibiting growth of bacteria.

BEFORE Installation
This step is important before installation to ensure correct water flow when filter is installed.
1) Place filter upside down in a glass of water overnight.
2) Remove from the water the following morning and shake for about 10 seconds.
Installation
Install gravity filter candle within the top chamber of your filter system. Gently hand tighten the plastic nut underneath.
After installation, before consumption
Flush the gravity filter candle before consumption by allowing a 2-4 litres of water to pass through the ceramic filter to remove any of the loose activated carbon particles.
Dispose of the first few litres of filtered water that may contain fine carbon particles. The fine particles are harmless and are a result of the manufacturing process.
Important: Initial taste of water with a new filter
When water first hits the carbon of a brand new filter, a reaction occurs which can make the water a bit alkaline and a 'metallic' taste may be noticed.
This taste is not always noticed, but if this does occur with your new filter initially, the taste will fade in a week or so.
In this scenario, you may wish to flush a few additional litres a day speed up the process. Regardless, the water is safe to drink.
