This beautiful wood carving of a "Pasenger Pigeon" is a unique and original piece of art created by artist Jim Slack. The life-sized sculpture of the now-extinct Passenger pigeon is made of wood with metal legs. Hand-painted details in gray with orange underbelly and black/white detailing. Brown staining noted (see pictures) but unable to determine if artist's intention with hand painting or foreign stain.

The pigeon sculpture measures 15 inches in length without the beak, with the beak measuring 1.75 inches, and stands 10 inches tall with a width of 4.5 inches. The wood base has black linear marks (see pictures) and over coating drippings on bottom.

This wood sculpture features a signature from the artist and handwritten name of the bird carved, indicating an original handcrafted piece. The sculpture is in great shape, ready to be displayed in your home or office. History of ownership is unavailable.
