Best Dressed Rare Sold Out TOM FORD $4,350 w/tax Ivory Field Jacket, Impeccable Details, Made In Italy

With all the vast collections Tom Ford has designed, when you see his own personal style he’s often seen in one of these field jackets. Military influences have always inspired top designers and Hollywood elite alike; even Daniel Craig’s James Bond has really brought this back with the No Time To Die wardrobe (as he has in all the films – often wearing Tom Ford). Readers of The Rake know how classic these are (see style inspiration photo reference).

TOM FORD makes a number of versions of these military inspired classic field jackets. This rare sold out Ivory version is a masterpiece. Selling this for a friend, but I have it as well in another color. My girlfriend flipped out when she saw this on me and told me to buy it, but she just moved in with her daughter and our closet is bursting. The hand on this luxe material is Godly, you can get a sense of it from the photographs, but Tom definitely spared no expense creating this!   

These military jackets are incredibly cool, masculine and universally flattering on all types (see reference / inspiration photos).

The quality and details on this are just insane (my favorite are the branded TF adjusters inside at the waist to tailor the fit to perfection): 

– The branded metal press stud wrist tabs

-- The impeccable horn buttons

– The gleaming chunky metal TF double zips with leather TF pull tab

– The intricate detail stitched placket with leather accent 

– The cool neck design and intricate layered stitching details which looks equally impressive up, down or partial in back to reveal the grab handle

– The branded hardware metal snaps on the front pockets

– The signature leather TF grab handle back of the neck (my personal favorite and something I always look for). 

Mr Tom Ford’s design philosophy is simple: don’t settle for anything less than perfection. Achieving perfection, of course, is harder than it looks.

Tom said he’s so proud of the construction of his garments he can’t help showing people the incredible stitching and craftsmanship in his offerings -- he’s a Virgo who suffers from their trademark perfectionism. He said it’s almost an illness. When asked why he doesn’t create a more affordable line, he answered he just can’t help himself from doing things at the highest level. If you’re lucky enough to have any of his pieces in your wardrobe, you know this to be true and we’re all the luckier for him creating these. His work has come to dominate my closet. 

SIZE NOTES

I'm 6 feet, 180lbs for fit pic reference. I'm typically a comfortable size 50 EU (40 US) and fitted 48 (38 US). My tailor said I’m a natural 21 inch chest, 18 inch shoulder and 25 inch shoulder-to-wrist for fit pic reference. This is a size 56 IT, but like most TF fits smaller. I’m a normal 50–52 in TF and this fits me just like the official Tom Ford lookbook styling (see photo reference). See measurements below.

Pit-to-pit: approx 24 inches (torso can be adjusted to taste)

Shoulder-to-shoulder: approx 19.5 inches from outer seams

Shoulder-to-sleeve: approx 24 inches

Overall length: approx 28.5 inches from base of collar
