This is an extremely rare Staffordshire white or cream salt glaze tazza or comport of around 1750 or 60 with an ornately patterned and moulded reticulated body. In the more commonly found plate form these pieces are usually described as fruit or dessert plates - this footed version would have been the centrepiece of a display with a number of surrounding plates in a wealthy household. Measuring 22cm wide and 8cm tall this piece is in extraordinarily good condition with just slight very fine surface wear, a 7mm hairline to the rim from one reticulated square, and a patch of glaze cracks underneath the rim to one side (see photo 7). UK delivery is free, international postage is through Ebay's Global Shipping Programme.
