This is a good sized mid 19th century Victorian sprigware pottery jug with lavender coloured decoration showing scenes of classical mythology to the side with dogs attacking a lion, warriors fighting, and a dog in battle with a serpent. Unmarked to the base (though probably by Samuel Alcock of Staffordshire) it measures 13.5cm tall and 20cm wide and is in excellent condition with a small star crack visible on the base only, and a small section of tail missing on the lion.
