Best Dressed Rare $2,100 w/tax TOM FORD Brushed Cotton Leather Accent Jacket, Incredible Details (see tailoring note)

An elevated timeless design like this brushed cotton jacket from TOM FORD is one of the best time-tested essentials in your entire wardrobe. I worked my way up to lines like Tom Ford and there’s just no substitute. This has become a staple in their collections producing it in many colors and variations; you know Tom loves it if they keep coming back to it over and over again. I’m selling this for a friend, but I have multiple of these because they’re just that good!

It’s a bit more of a boxy silhouette, but can be styled so many ways that all look effortlessly cool (see extensive photo reference). My favorite is with a white shirt, blue jeans and black boots like the photo reference. I only went all black in the fit pics as I was taking other photos, but of course that nice tan color is always a winner and much harder to find!

Mr Tom Ford’s design philosophy is simple: don’t settle for anything less than perfection. And that maxim applies as much to a plain cotton T-shirt as it does a wool barathea tuxedo with all the trimmings. Achieving perfection, of course, is harder than it looks.

“Menswear is a detail-driven business”

This is perhaps the most Mr Tom Ford-esque of Mr Ford’s statements. Mr Ford’s dogged commitment to perfectionism is renowned. And details? Well, those are the things that keep said business running. Menswear, after all, has long been ruled by strict conventions, and there are only so many ways you can reinvent a button-down shirt or chinos. Instead, it’s those tiny tweaks and improvements – a mother-of-pearl button here, a well-placed pleat there – that sort the bog-standard from the superior.

While I’ve owned many high end jackets over the years, nothing else reaches the level of Tom Ford. This is our top designer’s take on a timeless classic.

TAILORING / SIZE NOTE

I'm 6 feet, 180lbs for fit pic reference. I'm typically a comfortable size 50 EU (40 US) and fitted 48 (38 US). My tailor said I’m a natural 21 inch chest, 18 inch shoulder and 25 inch shoulder-to-wrist for fit pic reference. This is a tag size 58 IT, but originally fit much smaller. My friend said this was the only one left he could find and he knew from the measurements his tailor could dial it in for him. She did an amazing job taking it in a bit in the torso and shortening the sleeves a bit (she extended the lines of the jacket on the back to take it in. These look like a natural extension of the design; one is under the leather TF patch. To shorten the sleeves she just took up the slack above the wrist to just below the notch in the design so it wouldn’t effect the cuff with the silver TF press stud snap). See below for measurements.

MEASUREMENTS:

Pit-to-pit: approx 21 inches

Shoulder-to-shoulder: approx 20 inches

Shoulder-to-sleeve: 25 inches

Overall length: approx 25 inches overall from base of collar (angles up in back about an inch per the design)
