IcyDock MB455 SPF device bay (fits 5 x 3.5" HDD into 3 x 5.25" case space)

These bays are ideal for file servers on a budget. You can fit 5 x 3.5" hard drives into 3 x 5.25" drive bays, making maximum use of your available space.

Swapping drives is a breeze with an excellent and robust locking caddy mechanism - much more solid than many of the plastic-based tray-less solutions around at the moment.

We have a total of 4 of these bays for sale, out of a full tower case which had 12 5.25" bays - there were 20 hard drives in our file server when it was fully populated. We have outgrown this old file server and moved upwards to an UnRAID file server, hence we no longer need these docks.

They are mostly in quite good condition. Some of them have some scratches on the side panels from the tower case they were in., and there is the inevitable dust that accumulates when you have 20 hard drives spinning in close proximity to one another. Usage note: these docks don't like the little support shelves found in some 5.25" bays so you may need to do some metalwork to bend these out of the way so that these docks can be inserted.

We used them without fans (the fans are removable), but kept the fans and have reinstalled them for this sale (i.e. they are untested).

Sufficient mounting screws are included as are the manuals that came with the docks.

Two out of the five drive caddies in each rack have cross-bars (used if there is no drive installed in that particular slot).

Power requirements per dock: 3 x Molex connectors: we don't know if you can get away with less or not - we connected all 3 on each dock.

Data connectors: 5 x SATA connectors per dock, one per drive.
