Artist
Biography: Robert Wyland, widely known as Wyland, is an American artist born in 1956. He is renowned for his remarkable marine life-themed artwork, particularly his large-scale murals featuring whales and other ocean creatures. Wyland's passion for the ocean and its inhabitants began at a young age, inspired by his numerous visits to the beaches of Southern California.
In 1981, Wyland embarked on a mission to create 100 life-sized marine murals in various cities around the world, an ambitious project known as "Whaling Walls." These captivating murals aimed to raise awareness about marine conservation and promote a sense of environmental stewardship. Over the years, Wyland successfully completed his goal, painting large-scale marine-themed murals in locations ranging from the United States to Australia, Mexico, and beyond.
Wyland's artistic style is characterized by vibrant colors, intricate details, and a deep appreciation for the natural world. He often combines elements of realism with a touch of whimsy, creating visually stunning and emotionally evocative artworks. His artwork encompasses various mediums, including paintings, sculptures, prints, and murals.
Throughout his career, Wyland has received numerous accolades and honors for his contributions to marine conservation and art. He founded the Wyland Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting environmental awareness through art and education. The foundation has launched educational programs, public art projects, and community outreach initiatives to inspire people to protect and preserve our oceans and waterways.
Today, Wyland's artwork is celebrated globally, with his creations adorning public spaces, galleries, and private collections. His passion for the ocean continues to shine through his art, serving as a powerful reminder of the beauty and importance of our marine ecosystems.
Robert Wyland's artistic legacy extends beyond his remarkable talent as an artist. His commitment to conservation and his ability to inspire others through his art have made a lasting impact on both the art world and the preservation of our planet's natural wonders.
Condition: The artwork is damaged, with a 1cm puncture to the canvas in the corals far right, a retouched area in the centre just below the surf, and a few dirty marks, one at the top of the mother whale's mouth, another to the right of the moon, and a couple of scrapes to the white area upper left, other smaller marks may be present. The back of the canvas is foxed. The frame has a few light dents and scratches, and the fabric slip is age-tarnished. Presumably, the hole in the canvas and other issues could be restored. The photographs form part of the description; please study all images to fully satisfy yourself as to the condition.

describe all items with care not to

quality images follow the link in the
description to the gallery album.
- Authenticity When
we list an artwork as being "by" a
particular artist, without a doubt we
guarantee it to be an original artwork
by the artist as stated. When we sell
artwork described as an "oil
painting", "watercolour" or a "print",
this is quite simply what it really
is. When we list artwork as by a
"follower" or "school" or "manner" of
an artist, or from a specific period
or time eg. "19th century". Based on
the available information, knowledge
and research, that is what we believe
the artwork to be. If we are not sure
about the artist, medium, or age, we
will clearly say so and tell you why.
Where needed to further our knowledge,
artwork will be independently verified
to be certain it is as described
before being offered. Quite simply we
have one rule, we do not sell recent
fakes or forgeries. If any artwork
could not be sold through a reputable
Auction House, then we will not act
fraudulently or underhandedly by
offering it for sale here through
Art2Own. If after a purchase you find
there is doubt about our description
of your artwork, we will offer a full
no quibble refund.

and packaging are often required
by the Courier to remain in situ

being investigated. This can take
several weeks and in this
instance, we can only authorise
the return and pay a refund to you
when the Courier investigation has
completed.
