We are offering a postcard of Frasse & Co. Tools, Files & Supplies, Agents for Rollason's Music Wire, New York City, dated January 18, 1881.  It has an engraved illustration of Abel Rollason & Sons patent for steel music wire [wire made for use in piano strings].  Postcard has a 1 cent postage stamp printed on the card.  The postcard is to D. E. Whiton, West Stafford, Connecticut asking for 1/2 dozen Channers ? for a 2-inch lever chuck that was made by Henry Whiton.  [D. E. Whiton Machine Co. were the dominant manufacturers of the lathe and milling machine chuck, which was an important device in a lathe machine used for holding and rotating a piece of work while performing a lathe operation.]
