Russian Lacquer Box Palekh Art Jewelry Trinket Box Gift Box Lacquer Miniature Fairy Tale Ruslan and Ludmila

The box is made out of paper-mache. Black lacquer covers the exterior and red lacquer covers the interior of the box. The lid is hinged, and the box rests on four legs. The work is signed with the artist's name and the title.

The main picture is decal (art print), some small details and the gold ornament around the main picture are hand painted.

Ruslan and Ludmila is a poem by Alexander Pushkin. It is written as an epic fairy tale. It tells the story of the abduction of Ludmila, the daughter of Prince Vladimir of the Kievan Rus by an evil wizard and the attempt by the brave knight Ruslan to find and rescue her.
