The Nürburgring Südschleife hosted the third round of the championship. While 9 drivers had full points after two round there would only be 3 left after this race. The first one to lose points was Eichhammer, who was beaten by Nakaten. Weiss (Abarth 850) retired, just like Panowitz (NSU Wankel).
Marschke (Alpine) had problems as well, leaving victory to Schulze-Schwering. Menzel (Abarth 1000) won again however, just like Glemser (Escort TC) and Wiens (Commodore). Three Alfa GTA’s with Mass, Mohr and Schüler were not able to withstand Schmarje and his Mini. The BMW battle was won by Furtmayr this time with Neuhaus second.
It seemed that Ford now had a stranglehold on the championship; main opponents Wiens could be attacked by the newly homologated Capri, and Menzel had his work cut out against Abt in the 1000 cc class, while Glemser had the fastest 1600 cc car in Germany, underlined with a new lap record; faster than all other touring cars today.
