About Artist :

Fan Kuan (approximately 950-1032), also known as Zhongzheng and also known as Zhongli, was born in Huayuan, Shaanxi (now Yaozhou District, Tongchuan, Shaanxi) and was a master painter of the Song Dynasty. Because of his generous and open-minded personality, he was referred to as "Kuan" in the era, so he named himself Fan Kuan. Fan Kuan, Dong Yuan, and Li Cheng are collectively known as the "Three Great Masters of the Northern Song Dynasty". Artistic achievements have made Fan Kuan and Li Cheng equally famous, collectively known as "Li Fan", and also known as "Liu Fan" with Liu Gongquan, who is also a native of Huayuan.

After learning Li Cheng for the first time, he realized that "those who learn from others are not like those who learn from various cultures." Therefore, he secluded in Zhongnan and Taihua, created his own ideas about the scenery, wrote about the true bones of mountains, and formed his own family. Its painting features rich and dignified peaks and majestic grandeur, giving a sense of grandeur and danger. The pen is strong and powerful, with numerous raindrops, watercress, and nail heads. The mountaintop is good for creating dense forests, and large stones and rocks are often placed by the water's edge. The houses are dyed black. Creating a snowy scene is also wonderful.

There are surviving works such as "Journey to Mountains and Streams", "Snow Mountain Xiao Temple", and "Snow Scenery and Cold Forest".

In 2004, Life magazine in the United States ranked Fan Kuan 59th among the "Top 100 Most Influential People on Humanity in the Last 1000 Years"
