Here is a BOOTH'S REAL OLD WILLOW SILICON CHINA 9 7/8" LUNCHEON / DINNER PLATE WITH BROWN TRELLIS DETAIL NO: A8025.  This listing is for one
plate.  There are three dinner plates of this size available.

Booths was set up in the 1850s by Thomas Booth in Burslem.  It moved to Tunstall in 1912.  By 1914 the company employed 800 people.  Booths continued and after a number of takeovers, the name was dropped in the 1980s.

Silicon China mark from 1906 + a thin earthenware that was intended to compete with porcelain.

The Real Old Willow transfer printed pattern was based on a 18th century chinoiserie design.  The pattern depicts a chinese scene,  containing a landscape with pagodas, birds, a bridge, willow trees and traditional Chinese figures.  The pattern was discontinued in 1999.

The plate has a shallow scoop to it, but I don't think it is deep enough to be a soup plate.  Please have a look at the image above that shows it side on.  The plate has a white ground. It has gilding to the rim. The edges of the plate are scalloped.  The scene fits snugly over the whole of the well of the plate.  The scene is coloured cobalt blue.

The underside of the plate is plain. You will see the Booth's backstamp in cobalt blue.  This backstamp was used between 1944-1981.  Royal Doulton took over Booth's in 1971 and stopped using the Booth's name in the 1980s.  Please see the images.

The plate measures approximately 9 7/8" diameter.

The plate is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restoration.  There is surface crazing, which you have to look closely to see it.  Not surprising for a nearly 100 year old item.  The gilding is also pretty good for it's age.

If you would like to buy more than one plate, please change the number in the quantity window before checking out.
