The original painting represents a moralistic homage to America, the country where Dali lived during World War II. lived during the Second World War. Against a background reminiscent of both the deserts of America and the plains of Ampurdan, two figures dressed as American football players, one white and one black, face each other. Behind it, under a warning clock, the African continent, where the original roots of America's black population lie, dissipates in a dreary manner.

According to his own words, with this composition Dali wants to make people think about the dangers of major conflicts in the modern world. As a hopeful counterweight we recognize the new man, symbolized by the golden man balancing the egg on his finger.
