A large mid-century floor vase in textured shades of denim blue and black. Nut brown on the inside. Made in the 1960s by Knödgen Keramik.

Ilkra Edel Keramik (later Knödgen Keramik) was founded in West Germany by Jacob Leopold Knödgen in 1892 in the town of Ransbach-Baumbach. Especially after 1955, their vases were produced with a striking shape and glaze.

I can't quite make out the markings on the base, possibly 1527/45? This vase seems to fit the style and glaze of the 1000 series vases being made by Knödgen Keramik at the time.

Would complement any mid-century styled interior.

Approximate dimensions:
Height 35.5cm (14")
Width and depth at widest point 21cm (8.25")
Opening 11cm

Weighs just under 4kg. A large and heavy floor vase! Would look great with a bunch of dried corkscrew willow in it, or just on its own.

In good vintage condition with no chips or cracks. Stands firmly on its base. Some light age-related wear to the base. To protect furniture, four self adhesive flock pads have been added to the base — these could be removed if preferred. Please examine the photos carefully as they form part of the description.
Coke can shown for scale only. The last photo is for reference only and shows a Knödgen shop, probably at the Frankfurter Messe in 1969. On display (according to connoisseurs!) are several similar vases with form numbers from the 1000 and 2000 series.

The vase will be packed carefully for postage.
