Zhang Zhuang. Yu Yong Nien. 124 pages, illustrated. 1987. Rare.

If the Author looks familiar its because the book, " The Art of Nourishing Life, Zhang Zhuang" was mostly translated from this very book. The Newly translated book available through Amazon had a somewhat hard time translating the material from this book, but does manage to capture the mechanics of the said book.

once described Zhan Zhang to me as " The is Outside calm; inside is very busy".  Dr. Yu's description of simple exercises in this area can allow one to feel that almost immediately.there is a lot of material in this small  book such as the lengthy descriptions of effect on heart rate.. The descriptions of various positions can be found elsewhere as well. description of "second order kinetics" was, for me, priceless.   the translated books are not translations of Dr. Yu's complete text, but rather are selections from Dr. Yu's original text in Chinese, although there is substantial overlap. I suspect that this may be because the original text was not a fixed, but rather more a collection of writings, the selection of which perhaps changed over time. Nevertheless an essential book to have for the illustrations, as I believe are viewable enough, although a little small, appear to be accurate. almost a Dacheng like stances it teaters on Yi Quan, and Dacheng Quan. Dr. Yu's book is legitimate. This is the book, although not a complete version is the Chinese version as it appeared in the Original texts.

the condition is very good, there is foxing due to its age, it does not affect the illustrations.

thank you for looking
