We’ve been selling karaoke since 1988. That’s a long time! When I wanted to put my business phone number in the Yellow Pages the “karaoke” category did not even exist. I had to list the business under “Musical Accompaniment”. I’ve seen a lot of changes in these three decades. The formats that we have used to listen to our music has gone from cassette tapes and Laser Discs to Compact Discs w/Graphics, MP3+G and digital downloads. The good news for those that still have a karaoke cd+g player is that we still have thousands of discs still available, many of them are rare and hard-to-find, such as this one.
This is indeed a wonderful collection of the songs that Kris Kristofferson not only wrote but performed including two duets with Rita Coolidge, one song with the Highwaymen, and a duet with Dolly Parton.
What a story Kris Kristofferson can tell. A story has circulated that when he decided to pursue a career in songwriting that he moved to Nashville and started working at Columbia Records as a janitor, which gave him the opportunity to hand over his songs to established Country artists. He gave a demo tape to June Carter Cash and asked her to give it to her husband Johnny. She did but he did nothing with it. Undeterred Kris Kristofferson got Johnny Cash’s attention by landing a helicopter onto his yard and giving him the song ‘Sunday Mornin’ Comin’ Down’, which Johnny recorded and made a hit out of it. Most of us are very familiar with his songs such as 'Me And Bobby McGee', 'Sunday Mornin' Comin' Down', and 'Help Me Make It Through The Night' with someone else singing his songs, whether it be Sammi Smith, Johnny Cash, or even Elvis. Here is a disc with his versions of his songs! This disc goes beyond that and features some hard to find tracks such as 'Loving Arms', and 'Help Me Make It Through The Night' (Duet versions with Rita Coolidge) , 'Highwayman' and many more! Add in the other songs listed below and you've got an awesome collection from the one and only Kris Kristofferson to sing! This disc includes songs that are quite difficult to find, the sixteen listed below.
