Bought this new for my mom some years back. It was the top of the line 17" laptop at the time. Literally a full-load every option laptop. The battery was recently replaced and the wear level is a paltry 6.8% Additionally, the power supply brick was replaced not long ago with a genuine HP unit. The unit is mint. And I do mean mint. It's also spotlessly clean. Like new. It lived it's life on Mom's desk so the lid was never closed. That means the hinges are...like new. Also the trackpad was never used so it and the buttons are like new.  It's running a clean Windows 10 Enterprise (!!) installation (licensed and activated) with all the latest drivers and that's it. Fully updated, everything works perfectly. It runs Windows 10 with no issue. It's not instant, but it's also not slow. I've seen many lower end NEW computers that are MUCH slower. It is a quad-core i7 and you can easily put 16GB of memory in it for $25 on Amazon...and possibly 32GB...
The username is User and the Password is password.  Two issues which are 'normal' for this system. The CPU fan tends to run quite a bit as it's a powerful processor which generates heat. The other is that the internal WiFi card is limited to 54G and cannot be easily replaced as the BIOS looks for a genuine HP card or it refuses to boot. To work around the stock WiFi card we installed a tiny USB Wifi 'chit' (included) that does 433MB. This works fine if you are in close proximity to a WiFi access point (ie, home router). You can imagine that a tiny USB chit does not have a large antenna for distance! For $35 you can buy a nice external USB WiFi unit that will have tons of range and speed and put an end to the issue once and for all. Point being, the stock internal WiFi card is disabled in the O/S and the WiFi chit enabled.  Specs; HP Pavilion DV7-6C95DX Quad Core i7 2.20 GHz 2nd generation Intel Core i7-2670QM Processor with Turbo Boost Technology up to 3.10 GHz Memory 8GB DDR3 SDRAM (2 DIMM) Maximum officially supported = 16GB (about $25 on Amazon) Intel HD Graphics 3000 128 GB SSD boot drive w/Optional Second Drive bay and 1TB Hard Drive installed.  SuperMulti DVD burner 17.3-inch diagonal HD+ BrightView LED-backlit display (1920 x 1080) 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet LAN (RJ-45 connector) 802.11b/g/n WLAN *NOTE An Upgraded Tiny USB 433MB wireless chit installed Beats Audio with 4 speakers and the HP TripleBass Reflex Subwoofer Full-size island-style keyboard with numeric keypad Digital media card reader for Secure Digital and Multimedia cards 2 SuperSpeed USB 3.0 2 Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0 1 HDMI 1 VGA (15-pin) 1 RJ-45 (LAN) 2 Headphone-out 1 Microphone-in Weight 6.72 lbs 90W AC adapter Lithium-ion battery HP TrueVision HD Webcam with integrated digital microphone HP SimplePass with integrated fingerprint reader In all truth, it didn't need to be replaced. It will run Office 365 and Windows 10 with zero issues and quite quickly. But mom is 90 now and mom gets what mom wants! This would make a really great gift for someone. Or, tide you over for several years for sure. It was the living end in it's day and it's still remarkable.
